I have a 1953 Chevy truck...brandy new Newport wiper motor...new Jim Carter truck wiper arms and wiper blades too...go and run the wipers and they hit the top the rubber on the windshield and the chrome center bar on the split windshield...very jerky motion too....
How are they supposed to work???If I ever drive this truck in the rain I will end up off the road due to un-useable wipe blades....
I have all new parts and nothing is working right...what make and model of wiper arms and blades are you guys using???
Thanks in advance....

I bought the arms and blades from Classic or the Filling Station for the 48 and they fit correctly. | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall | Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 | I have Newport wiper motor and used arms and blades from JimCarter. At best, they only clear the bottom 2/3's of the windshield. You must have the wrong arms and or blades. | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall | Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 | Mike, does your part numbers match the ones I listed above that I got from Carters?? They may have changed the numbers since I got mine but I don't think so.....I think I checked before I typed them in the other day. | | | | Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 1,747 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 1,747 | Jerky motion equals the motor is not quite indexed.Pull The arms off. Run the wiper and let it "Park". Look under the dash and see what position the link arms are in. Some adjusting(mine has a nut to mount the motor to the bracket and a screw to clamp it) a little repositioning should stop the clank and stutter. Then put the arms on and index them just above the rubber seal for the windshield. Some arms have an adjustable end that allows for adjusting the position or the rubber wiper blade. and others do not. If you have the adjustable type, the shorten the arm until the blade is about 1/2 inch from the center bar. Should work from there. If the motor won't index until you have no clanking, the Arm on the shaft may need to be repositioned and then start over. The start and stop point is determined by the "park" cam so that is where I start. I know it sounds a bit clumsy, but when you see it all move under there it will make sense.
