here is a picture of my 47 chevy I just brought to England.
It is a body off restore, and only has 1500 miles on it.
The quetion is I am alrady getting stone chips. I am thinking about adding 3m protective film, have any of you tried it? I am wondering how it will look against a very good paint job.

Truck details,
dads truck
261 stove bold
5 speed tranny from firebird
410 rear end
converted to run LPG (gas is $7.00 per gallon, LPG is 3.50)
thanks
OK, NOW i am stuck, I see how to link to a image on the web, but I do not have a web page. How do I insert an image?

have to have a place to host the pic on the web - not necessarily your 'web page', just a photo host, or somebody here to do it for ya

where are the chips and, is it from the stones hitting the paint surface directly, or like thrown from the tires and bashing the underside of the fender, chipping paint above?

having started w/ roads built by them Romans, I'd think you wouldn't have any unpaved areas there by now grin

thye are coming from rocks hitting from the front.
I sprayed 2 layers of truck liner to the inside of te wheel wells to try and stop stars. So far that seems tobe working.
I am a little concerned, the paint shop I used was a small shop and did not have the ability to bake the paint. I an afraid that by not baking it the paint is still soft. It is PPG 2 stage paint.

nice pic and beauty of a truck!! hope the bobbys don't mind the passenger driving? grin

don't think it's the lack of forced drying that would make the paint more likely to chip, but more the quality of the job - like paint sticking to primer and primer sticking to metal - but prolly not even that, just that paint on metal doesn't take well to direct hits w/ stones, which is why the show truck folks make their sissy trucks wear a bra on the highway

martinsr might have a solution for ya

Bill

I have "stoneguard" custom done on my '49. It was a real pain to do, but worked out well. I like it better than the bra I had, because the bra trapped dist and caused fine scratches in the paint. Good luck.
