One is tight around the axle housing, the other is very loose. I'm soaking the bolts that hold the halves together so I can take the loose one apart. I assume there should be some kind of gasket between it and the axle housing. Anyone know what the part is called and where I might be able to find new gaskets?

The side that's loose has worn a lot into the axle housing. Is there anything I can do to repair the damage or at least stop it from getting worse?

I suspect the two halves that go around the rear housing are held by two screws that go in from the "top" and screw into the bottoms. You can mic the axle and figure the wear. I suppose if the axle was really bad you could build it up with weld. Grind etc back to the oem size. The wear is not equal around axle so my fix worked well for me. There are no gaskets.
