Can somebody tell me what year AD has the gas tank UNDER the bed? I'm looking for the no.# 2 cross sill that goes over the tank. It has a "hump" in it to clear the tank. I need to know the correct year so I can go look for one. My 52 has TWO tanks...one behind the seat and one under the bed...both stock tanks.
THANKS!

Look under 1-ton trucks and suburbans smile

Russntustin,

What size '52 pick-up are you working with? Size might matter when talking about the frame braces for fuel tanks.

As OleBlue said, '47.5-'48 pick-ups and all 47.5-55.5 1/2 ton suburbans and panel trucks had fuel tanks between the frame (passenger side, forward of the rear axle). The suburban/panel trucks have two frame braces that go over the tank (maybe someone else knows if the 47.5-48 pickup had the same braces).

I should have said...It's a 1/2 ton five window stepside.Strange, huh?! The tank in the back is stock, but when I got the truck,it didn't have the cross sills.a'regular' sill won't work in that area of the gas tank w/o modification.
