Hello.

Im a new member from south of Sweden, northern Europe.

Ive already read alot of post on this site.
Lots of good stuff and i have a lot to learn about GM-trucks.

I have always dreamt of having a US-truck but they arent affordable over here and a project car is normally like 10 grand. :big_eek:

Well i recently bought me a Chevy Stepside 3100 1953.
Its a project and have been sitting in a barn for 13 years.

This truck came over the pond to Sweden in 1977 but didnt get registered until 1996.

The previous owner (second or third owner) purchased this car late '90ies.

Immediately he did a big overhaul and put a Camaro drivetrain in the car.
Complete front end with a 305 TPI, trans 700r4 (?), rack and pinion, front and rear axle (with leafs) and disc/drum brakes incl. brake booster.

In 2003 the p.o. decided to take care of some rust in the lower parts of the cab. Also he had intentions to relocate the gas tank.

The project went to a stand still and for a couple years ago the p.o. passed away.

My plans is to fix the bad things paint it and change things that is bad rubber and seals, chrome parts etc. relocate the gas tank.

Right now the cab is off and totally striped down regarding glass and interior parts. The rust is cut out and new metal sheets is spot welded in place, hood and fenders is also off the car.

The rest off the car is rust free and all the parts seems to be there.

All the old parts motor, axels, steering parts is still with the car. Also the wooden bed but it is replaced with sheet metal, My plan is to put aluminum instead.

Sorry for my worse English.

/Tommy.

Welcome Tommy, some of us members in North America have worse English than you. (I know what it's like because I belong to a Dutch forum, not easy)

Anyway, sounds like you have quite a project there, maybe try to post a few pics, we would love to see what you have.

...and yes, as Peggy says, Karl (organbuilder) is from Sweden. I think he delivers organs with his truck. You might just meet him.

He's right! You should hear some of the stuff that comes out of peoples' mouths in Canada. People who were BORN here! grin
(I'm not talkin about 'bolters).

Thanks Guys.

I have started a blog (link below)
hit the "pictures" in the blog to se some pics.

Yes it looks like a mess and imo worse than it really is.
The big challenge is the electrical system for the motor.
(see pic)

I will start a project thread in here when i picking up some speed in this project.

Right now its inventory time of this project.
What to do, what is usable and what is not etc.

/Tommy.

Hej Tomswede!

I've been off working and off-line the last weeks. I see a new 'bolter from Sweden! Nice to know there are a few of us. Welcome to the site! What part of Sweden are you from? The 2nd of April is the big Vårmarknad in Lidköping!

Karl

Hi Tommy, welcome from just over the North Sea,it's always good to see another 'Eurobolter' joining up.

I see you've already met Karl, and it sounds like your project is coming along well.
Fortunately Sweden and most of the other Scandinavian countries have a large American car scene so any help you might need shouldn't be too far away.

....and of course there's always here! grin
Good Luck.
Jock.

Hello Tommy
Welcome to the site. I have a 53 Chevy 1300 made in Canada.
Visited your part of the world back in the 80s. Wife and I spent an hour or two in the Kosta Boda Glassware Supermarket and had a large box of glassware shipped back.
Have a glass of whiskey everyday from a decanter that came with the set.
Lots of luck getting that truck together.
