Hello Big Bolters!
I'm looking at becoming an owner of a 1938 Chevy 1 1/2 ton truck with the 157' wheel base. Curious if any of you guys know if there are any real differences of the cabs/hood/front fenders on these compared to the 3/4 tons in size? I have only corresponded with the sellers with pictures and phone calls and there are no trucks this size that I could see in person hence the reason I ask. I'm really excited and hopefully soon be the owner of one! Thank you all!

The Cabs, Hood and Grille are the same for the big and small trucks.

The fenders are not the same.

1938 is for the most part a one year truck...

The 1938 1-1/2 ton 157" wb Dually will be Model "TD", the single is Model "TC".

If you wish to elaborate on your location, perhaps one of us live nearby, and could give additional input?

He is in transition from Nevada to Minnesota, I think. I happened to read the DITY last night & saw it.

I'm sure we have somebody between Nevada & Minnesota.

Here's pictures of the truck!! It's such a blast, I will definitely post more pictures of the truck as soon as possible! Hopefully the link works below.

Also, was able to pick up a 261 engine with a four speed transmission with a PTO! So awesome! Wanted to update you all. We have a BIG BOLT! grin

So is it a driver then? Is the original motor shot, or did you just want a little more power? I just got my 261 started for the first time today, pretty exciting! Good luck with the swap.

Good choice of engines. I had a '38 GMC 1.5 ton, with Olds 230 flathead. Not enough leg room, sold it to NY.

The engine in it was shot, terribly, but being it was the 216 no problems there! I felt the 261 would be much better even though we are keeping else as original as possible! We want to use it and keep it as a driver, just need time.

Thank you! Hope to put more pictures up soon! I have been looking for one just like this for a long time!
