Looking for an assist....I replaced the window regulator and door latch on my 53 3100. This required the removal of the vent window assembly and window glass, which came out easy. Now I'm stuck. Having trouble with install of the vent assembly onto the glass.
Does anyone know the correct method or trick to make it work?
Not having a passenger window in Jan in Idaho is not an attractive option!

Idaho, IIRC roll the door glass all the way down and be sure its as far back as possible. The vent should then drop in, you may have to turn it to clear the top of the door . The factory manual should have instructions, can't find mine right now but its available online. Hope this helps some, its one of those jobs thats easier to do than explain! John

tinnerjohn Is pretty much spot on. My 52 was a booger to begin with but after taking it out and in for various reasons I got pretty good at it. Follow the shop manual instructions and if you don't have one the online manual link is listed in the tech tips.
I do remember that once I got the wing vent down in the door that I had to "twist" it a little to get the window glass to go in the channel.

Thank you Cletus. Step 8, getting the vent channel to accept the leading edge of the window glass is where I'm stuck. I can get it started, but when I have to tilt the vent assembly to fit into the trough at the front of the door I loose the glass in the channel. When I have the vent aligned with the mounting holes, the channel is off the glass and pushed out of alignment by the spring of the window regulator. May have to bribe some additional hands with adult beverages and see if many hands make the task easier!

Thank you for the assist. I've found the manual for 51 & 52, but not 53, although I don't think any major changes exist. I'm just having a heck of a time with the "twist" as there is minimal room. I think I'll try the additional hands method and see if that helps. I'll let ya know how this turns out.

Be careful in COLD weather. The wrong "twist" and you'll have a cracked glass. Yes, the 53 is like the 52 and I'd also imagine the 51 since the only difference is in the door handles. The pull down on the 51 vs the push button on the 52/53.

For others who may find themselves in a smiliar situation, heres my error & fix:
after reading the 52 and 54 manuals, I realized it shouldnt be this hard.
The two things I did different that seems to have worked are 1) used some rubber wedges to keep glass centered in the door, 2) removed the two screws at the back of the door holding the back channel rigid. This gave me enough play to angle the glass, keeping the glass in the back channel and drop the front edge of glass into the front channel once I had the vent assembly in place. Minimal "twisting", just slight angle on glass and front channel.
