I'll be painting my 51, 235 in the next week or so. Should I prime the engine first? Or, is the roughness of the egine enough? This is probably a dumb question but, I have never painted an engine before. I'm going to spray it with paint from Jim Carters.

I would prime it just to get even colorcoverage. It'll last longer with primer. Paint itself actually doesn't stick to bare metal all that well. Especially Cast Iron.
