For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2015 Posts: 5 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Dec 2015 Posts: 5 | Hello everyone! I just got my newest project and first stovebolt(I think) truck. It's a 1949 Chevrolet 6100 wrecker. I don't know how everyone on here feels about rat rods, but I have great plans for this truck. 😊 I look forward to learning from others in this forum, and sharing my project as well. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall | | Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 | AlmightyCrash, Welcome to the Stovebolt. Rat Rods?? Its your truck so you can decide. We do not discriminate here although we do like to see nice originals taken care of.....plenty of rust buckets to chop and chew on!! But, its still your baby and we'll help anyway we can....that's the Stovebolt way!!
We have a "resident" wrecker guy here on the bolt, well, maybe two or three. Watch for them. They're always around. With a 6100 you'll probably also be checking with the guys in the BIG BOLT Forum.
I see your from TX so that makes you a member of the "Texas Connection". There's a bunch of them here and maybe some next door. Remember to ask questions in the most appropriate garage forums for the best results. Good luck, see ya around the garage. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 4,215 Moderator | | Moderator Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 4,215 | Welcome. We have room here for all types. There are separate forums here, check out the big bolts, also the HiPo shop for modified trucks. It does have a 235, but not the original one. Winch works, motor runs. Haven't driven it yet because it has no brakes. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 4,215 Moderator | | Moderator Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 4,215 | The body don't look too bad, the 235 is likely a newer, full pressure engine. Good luck with the brakes. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 2,412 Former Workshop Owner | | Former Workshop Owner Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 2,412 | Hello A-Crash,
