Another long time lurker who hasn't been around for awhile, been too busy raising my two boys and such.
I recently purchased a '40 half ton swb chevy pickup with the intention of peeling at least one son away from the video games so he can get his hands dirty and maybe learn something. Turns out the truck needs more than I suspected so it's either sell it in the spring and look for a better one to restore or keep it to restore. Either way I'll probably be asking a lot of questions from you guys so bear with me please.

A parts truck is a good thing.
Video games.... I found that once the grandkids found all the toys in my tool box and stuff around the shop, they don't want the other stuff as much. They love getting their hands dirty.
My children were "before" the electronic age.....they did have Pac-man.

The problem is the area I live in [NE Connecticut],there is very little trucks or parts of this vintage that are still salvageable. When the driver dropped the truck off at my house I had three different people that were driving by stop and ask about it and I live on a back road in a rural area! I had this one shipped from Montana so I also incurred the fee for that. I would almost have to sell to recoup some funds to buy another. Turns out the truck needs more than I suspected, Ain't that the way it always goes. I had the same problem, in hindsight I maybe should have got another, but now I'm happy with what I have. My problem is I've owned other years and styles but I've always had a soft spot for a '40. Now that I've got one in my garage even though It's rougher than I wanted to start with It's already started to grow on me. Decisions, decisions...
