Every place that I've read about these conversions says it works great. You are now converted to 5 lug and disc brakes, right? You should use everything from the 1973. gear box, pitman arm, crosslink, spindles.

I haven't done the whole assembly, but I have done the conversion using the modern spindles, but using my old control arms. I've read that using the whole assembly works too. Mine is 8 lug, and I didn't know where to source a 3/4 ton front end, so I had to buy kits. I wish I'd known then what I know now, I could have save a ton of money.

I did it and worked well. You just have to change out your tie rods and ball joints for whatever year spindles you have and I took the steering linkage from the donor otherwise you have to use some tie rod adjuster sleeves. They are $50 bucks

On my 64' I used an 87' model, and it was a breeze. I now have disc brakes, power steering, and parts that are 20+ newer. Even managed to score the sway bar.

I did a 91 Suburban suspension/cross member swap on my 66 Suburban and it turned out great.
