That 3 3/4" bore size is unique to the 261- - - -virtually all the other parts except the connecting rods and pistons will swap from a 235.

The oil soaked metal over the years may have saved it. Perfect combination. It has full flow oil filtering, has the highest compression head. It is a very good engine. I am sure you will find it easy to find a good home for it.

The 848 is a '58 and looks to be milled. Plus the block has been bored .40 over with nice looking cross hatched cylinders. Broke it free. It is a great motor. With the hydraulic lifters, you can't hear the thing running at idle. Direct bolt in to replace a 216. Only issue is the hole in the crankshaft for the pilot bearing is too small for a standard sized pilot bearing. There is a correct sized one available however.
