Had carb rebuilt, new dash throttle control installed and got somethin wrong. Worked perfect before I messed with it. Go ahead, hit me, hurt me, I deserve it!!!! Rochester B 1 bbl carb w/manual choke on a 261. Carb linkage comes up from the bell crank and turns 90 into the carb throttle lever hole. A pic or 2 might be worth a thousand words. Send via 231-638-2429, or aliceszp@comcast.net whichever is convenient Thanks much | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 Bubba - Curmudgeon | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 | Friction inside the dash end of the throttle cable is what keeps the throttle cable from being retracted by the throttle return spring.
I think you might need to carefully crimp the "tube" at the dash end of the new throttle cable "housing".
However, wait to hear from other people before doing any crimping. | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,059 Renaissance Man | Renaissance Man Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,059 | How much foot effort does it take to step on he gas? You might have too strong of a spring.

Did you change the throttle return spring? | | | | Joined: May 2009 Posts: 85 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: May 2009 Posts: 85 | Sent u a couple pictures, only ones I have in the shop are Carters, no connection between choke and throttle but yours may have a stepped plate to open the throttle plate a little when the choke is on but I don't think it should be connected to the return spring. I may be thinking about an automatic choke though. Hope I didn't confuse you more, I may have confused myself though!
