Note: Felpro and many parts suppliers list Felpro RDS5088 as a differential cover gasket, and RDS5090 as a differential carrier gasket for 47-54. However, these are not the correct gaskets.

During the transition period we retrofitted the thin paper gaskets with RTV without any problems. I'm sure the RTV was a little thinner than paper. Never a drip of anything gets through it. Expensive but excellent product.

When prepped properly, you don't even get seepage of oil or grease, let alone a drip. It is somewhat adhesive so I don't use it on things that you anticipate would need to come off, such as a valve cover. It would be perfect for the differential carrier. I have commented on this product before and surprised that few people seem to use it. It is OEM on Caterpillar oilpans and used without a gasket.
