I converted from a straight 6 to a 283 using the same perches that were use for the 6. Was that the correct thing to do or is there a different perch I need to get? It seems like the 283 is a little low. The fan will be close the the transmission lines and the radiator hose.

Maybe new radiator inlet/outlets are in different locations than stock. There is no law against lowering radiator. From the web: If it's a 230 or 250-6 with 3-speed manual, the frame mounts, motor mounts, bellhousing, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, release bearing, and starter will all swap from the 6 over to the V8. I don't know which motor was on that truck because there was just a frame that had been restored. But if you are saying that the perches are the same with the 6 and the v8 then everything should be fine. I bought the mounts for the 283 and everything went together great. So the motor may not be too low I just need to put the radiator in and it should be fine. ????

I didn't notice the "Read" but that answered my question. My radiator matches perfect with the old one. I will just lower it as much as I can. The 283 is not as tall as the 6 it seems to me I will do some measuring.

I talked with Jeff and, I don't know anything about the price, but they are Champion Cooling System aluminum radiators. The best part - 60 day, no questions asked guarantee. He'll even pay return shipping.
The radiator has a life-time warranty (that stays with YOU; not the truck ... so if you sell it, it doesn't go with the truck).
He's got radiators for Chevy going back to 1941. He has other truck makes also. Nice guy. Said feel free to call him if you've got radiator questions.
He does all the selling via eBay.

That is unheard of I have had some companies give you 30 days and I still hadn't installed it by then its not like I can be in my garage every minute of every day. With aluminum you need a bigger tube. The one I bought is 1 inch 2 row. With copper you would want a smaller tube and more rows.
