The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Engine Shop Radiator help 55.2

So my radiator on the 55.2 (chevy 350, manaual trans) sprung a leak. Took it to the local shop and he showed me where it had been repaired before and told me I needed to replace it. However, I'm not sure exactly what I need; as this truck is a restomod and not original. The radiator in there now is mounted with 4 bolts and measure approx 23 1/8 across and 22 1/2 tall.

Do I need a three row or a 4 row? I've found some on ebay that are aluminum for cheaper than other sites, but I'm always weary of ebay. We just cruise in the truck and rarely get over 50 mph so I don't think I need anything heavy duty.

After reading this you should be able to make a good decision based on your driving habits and where you live. Radiators are available to be a "drop in fit" so there should be no problems there.
Even though you have a manual transmission you may want to go ahead and get a radiator with the tranny cooler in the bottom in case you ever get lazy or you have knee problems!!

Last radiator I purchased was from Dillon Radiator for my 261 six cylinder. Its actually made by Champion Cooling. $200 delivered to my door and came with a nice radiator cap and fittings.

You might check with your local shop, see if they can recore the original. I did that with mine, had them put 4 row core in it, it was much cheaper than any of the aftermarket radiators, and since it was built from the original frame, it dropped right back in with no fitment problems
