I am tring to do a very careful restoration on my 58 and can not find what this product is and where I can get it. Also how far down on the black top portion of the dash this coating was applied? Ok it's time to help the "rookie" again. Thanks, I will be loading up some pictures in the future to show the progress. Most of the '55.2 and '56 trucks I've seen have had smooth paint on the dashes, but I remember that the one I drove in the late 50's didn't have a smooth dash so tried to create that look. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 11 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 11 | I thought that the rough finish was as result of a bad paint being sprayed on the dash some point in the trucks life I guess thats the way it came it does look too well applied to be a spray can, I must admit I am stripping it off and going with shiney hi glare pearl white, I'll have to wear shades!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Came in flat black and a few other colors. This is not the "hammered" or "splatter" paint thats been around for some time. It appears to be of the same texture that is currently on my original '59 dash.

My dash had this "rough bubbled" paint on it but I too thought it was someones poor paint job and sanded it smooth. I guess lesson learned here "research twice, put the sandpaper down and research again!" oh well> I keep hoping someone will say there is a product specially made for this restoration application. I will look into the Rustolium idea, will let you know what I think. | | |
