Located 2 trucks on local CL. Both titled. Same seller says both for $2000, no split.

1952 1/2 ton 3 window

1953 3/4 ton 3 window

Tons of parts, extra parts. 1/2 ton has what he thinks is a 55-57 rear axle.

The motor in the 3/4 ton appears fresh with a 235 Thriftmaster sticker on the valve cover. Both cabs are good.

Total 3 motors, several transmissions. I want the 1/2 ton because of the short bed, column shift and because I don't want 8 lug wheels etc.

If I buy this pair, is there any interst in the excess parts to recoup some of my costs? Or am I buying a bunch of parts that need thrown into the 3/4 ton and crushed?

In reverse, if I keep the 3/4 ton and sell the 1/2 ton, is there catalog support for the longer bed in 3/4 t?

Find another rear axle out of a 1/2 ton TF and another front axle out of 1/2 ton AD and build 2 trucks!
Catalog support for the 3/4 tons aren't bad, but if you dump the axles and replace with 1/2 ton stuff it'll increase support.
Or, build the 3/4 ton as a hauler for your 1/2 ton. I've seen that there are kits for 3/4 ton disc brakes that are being made now (check the parts for sale) and I believe the 53 has bendix style brakes so fixing the rears aren't a problem. The dual master cylinder for the 1/2 ton works fine on a 3/4 ton.
All the interior and exterior parts are the same with exception of running boards and bed sides.
I'm sure you can recoup some of your costs by using the "parts for sale" area. As far as price goes, if it's something you feel is fair then by all means take the plunge.

seems reasonable to me, just build one and sell the other or use one for parts to fix the other.

I paid more than that for one truck that was in bad shape. Two trucks with extra parts would be a fair deal, to get a jump start into the hobby. JMO.

Thanks. I was in a small town with a 3 car garage and room for another 2-4 vehicles around the garage and a pad for storage of hoods/fenders doors. NOW I have much less space and I am in the city.

I looked at the boxes of parts and thought no one is going to want an alernator-generator-starter and there are 4-5 transmissions.

I just want a complete worn out truck to restore.

buy it, you will not regret it and there is some value in parts. Just list them, or watch everyone's else's ad in the swap meet parts wanted.....and parts to barter can surely come in handy when YOU need something. Go for it.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
