I have the stainless around the windows-the piece that fits on the front of the hood to clean and polish. I need to know what I should use to do this. Do I use a rubbing compoud or a wax? I am sure alot of elbow grease too

Stainless trim that doesn't shine brightly anymore usually needs to be buffed...with a buffing wheel and appropriate buffing compounds. Check out Eastwood as they have a good supply of buffing/polishing stuff.

I watched these guys peddiling this stuff at a swap meet that they polished the bottom of soda cans with little effort to a miiror /chrome shine.Since i didnt need my pop cans polished and it was 10 bucks a bottle each for the polish and sealer i was ready to keep walking. It had to be a trick.Well the wife sez lets give it a try and while i was sure it wouldnt work at home i bought some.First i did the very hazy trim on the dash and glove box on my 51.Minor effort and i was definetly impressed with the bright shine.I read your post and rembered i just picked up 2 trim pieces for my 60 and thought id try one.I was again impressed. The stuff is called master fourmula metal gloss metal polish.Iffi get a chance tomorow ill try and post a picture.

Autosol, also from Eastwood does a pretty nice job on both metals and plastics if they aren't too scratched. If scratched, the buffing wheels and compounds do the job.
