The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Engine Shop 1946 Chevy Pickup Throttle Linkage

I've installed a Chevy 261 engine in my '46 Chevy pickup but the project has taken so long that I no longer can figure out how the throttle linkage should be set up with the rods and butterfly. Does anyone have photos or drawings of how this throttle system should be connected? Thanks

The 261 linkage should basically hook up like the 235's in a car. Meaning you should have a "curved" rod going to and thru the toeboard, which hooks to the "swivel" on the side of the block just behind the exhaust pipe. From there should be a fairly straight rod going up from the swivel to the carb.It will be basically the same in your '46.

I'm sure Deve or one of the other guys has a picture but I don't have it marked. I'm sure they will chime in shortly.

My problem is that I'm unable to sort out how the rods from the accelerator to the butterfly swivel and from the butterfly to the carb linkage should be arranged. I'm also running dual Carter/Weber carbs on an Offenhauser manifold but the principle is the same that when I depress the accelerator the motion must pull down on the rod that goes from the butterfly to the carb linkage. If there is a photo or drawing anywhere out there in Stovebolt land, it will be helpful to this "non-engineering" chap. Regards
