Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jan 2000 Posts: 2,074 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2000 Posts: 2,074 | Have read many times over the years that this 54-55 1st series cross member swap is just the ticket when swapping to a later motor(sloped mounts)in an earlier truck, yes-no? Looking to swap a 250/292 with an automatic in to the old 3600, any ideas would be appreciated.

I don't think the swap would be of any benefit if you are going to use any automatic transmission other that the four speed Hydramatic, hope that helps. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2000 Posts: 2,074 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2000 Posts: 2,074 | Thanks guys, that's the one Brad. I was sure some automatics used these sloped type mounts as well? I want to do this swap without loosing the strength that this cross member provides. Maybe I'm overthinking this deal as usual.
