For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2012 Posts: 109 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2012 Posts: 109 | I hope this is the right place for a post. I am looking at buying a 1954 bumper with the dip. My bumper on my current truck doesn't have the dip and with my soon to be added trailer hitch it requires this type of bumper. I have noticed prices that vary quite a bit for the chrome. Can anyone point me in the right direction. I know some companies buy parts from the same manufacturer and then mark prices up. If anyone has bought one of these bumpers and really liked the quality please let me know. Thanks

Chrome bumper is part number 65-024 and costs $140.00. FYI, I bought the bumper, the brackets and the bumper to bracket chrome bolts, its went together nicely. www.classicparts.com

My truck has the regular bumper and I need to put the dip bumper for the hidden trailer hitch.
Appreciate your help.

I'd try to get an email-message assurance that the chrome would not rust-through or peel-off of the undamaged/undented/unscratched parts of bumper. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2014 Posts: 1,289 Moderator for Tons o' Fun , Co-Moderator Driveline Forum | | Moderator for Tons o' Fun , Co-Moderator Driveline Forum Joined: Jul 2014 Posts: 1,289 | The photo of your bumper is not like the bumper I purchased, mine has the "dip" you refer to. Suggest you visit their web site and take a look, exterior parts / bumpers, 65-024P. It has the "dip" and I believe its what you are looking for.

I have used one 1954 chromed rear bumper from Jim Carter (bought 15+ years ago). It has held up well, but you never know if they now come from the same source.
I have a chromed 1954 rear bumper from Classic Parts - it is about 5 years old but I have not yet installed it.
My suggestion is to email the seller and ask them if they guarantee that the chrome will not peel off and that rust-through will not occur on unscratched/undented chrome on the bumper. Hope they reply in email - keep the email.
Good luck,
Tim

By the way, did you (MFW) make the trailer hitch or buy it from a vendor? Please post photos when you have it installed. Where will you put the license plate? | | |
