I have a 65 chevy with rust coming out of the seams in the bed. Is there a way to pour a rust killer in the seam and not ruin the paint?

I can't remember which show on Velocity Channel it was on. But in a video clip they set up a pump and hose and a plastic sheet to catch the liquid.
They put a gallon or two of EVAPORUST into the catch sheet and the pumped it up to a top of a partly rusty door. The stuff run down the door and was pumped up all over again.
Left to run over night the next day the rust was gone but paint untouched.

I just bought my first gallon last week and looking forward to setting up a dip tank to put rusty parts in.


Once you run this you will have clean bare metal and will need to treat it so it will not rust again. The company (evaporust) makes treatment for bare metal I think.

I know I had seen some on one of the shows.

You could do the same thing with white vinegar. It might take two days instead.

Thanks, I heard white vinegar would work. I was thinking of an Eastwood product or por 13.Trying to get paint in there might be difficult.

If it is a all metal bed consider killing the rust in any form then have the line-x or rhino guys coat the whole bed.

They can do colors to match current bed color and that would seal the corners.

Thanks 48X, the rust is weeping from the exterior seam on the bed and in other places. I thought masking it off, then pouring in the rust killer? Maybe do a pin line to hide it?

Caso, what do you mean by NO? there has got to be a way to stop this?

The question was can you get something in the seams to remove the rust and leave the paint ...
I would use ospho to deal with the rusty seams buti wouldn't count on the paint being the same afterwards. (See my many warnings about proper neutralization of ospho before using that route)
My experience is that it will.creep under any loose paint and either lift or hide... the first you may see right away the second could bite you after you think your all done.
It's a question of what you want the truck to be and how much effort your willing to put in vrs the risk of paint failure down the road. If its gonna be a work truck who cares about the rusty seams. On the other hand if your looking to preserve it how long do you want your efforts to last?
Once you start down the road of removing rust it becomes a question of how are you going to protect the metal and do you trust the 50 or 60 year old paint to stay stuck?
I don't have that much faith.
