'59 235 with stomp starter

It never occurred to me that the stomp button would work with the key in the OFF position, but once I thought about it...sure. That, the fact I have a bad headlight switch (which I'll replace), and the theft issue have me considering a battery cut-off switch.

Have any of you installed one? If so, what type and where? Given the battery and starter location on the far side I'm not picturing anything simple but discreet.

It will "work" in the sense that the starter turns, motor fires but soon as foot is lifted motor dies because the coil has no juice from it's "run" source: the Ignition "on".
They are easy to hotwire, safety switch or not. Use a club on the steering wheel or the gas pedal, hood lock, alarm or don't sweat it.
All you have to do to start it is change the wire from foot starter switch-to-coil over to starter hot post-to-coil(or use a jumper wire) and pull the foot lever by hand from under the hood. There are many other ways. You can't "hide" a switch between battery and starter hot. The starting system is too simple to protect. You may find a way to ground the Dizzy or disable the Dizzy but it has one visible wire from coil.

Lookup "Battery Cut Off Switches" on eBay and there are several options.
I use the down and dirty Green switch. It's not particularly hidden but, if they enough about these cars to get around it, consider it stolen anyway.

DO NOT BUY A CHEAP BATTERY CUTOFF!

Get one that will carry at least 300 amps- - - -500 is better. This particularly true if you're running a 6 volt electrical system. Most of the inexpensive switches with the red "flag" key are designed for 200 amps or less current capacity. One of those will overheat and/or slow the starter down to the point of doing internal damage to the starter.
