For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Nov 2010 Posts: 1,159 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2010 Posts: 1,159 | This is CRAZY!! The guy that bought my truck, for $5,500.00 came over Saturday, while I was waiting on the phone call about the KB3. He wanted $4,000.00,by Monday,or he was going to "run it across the scale",and take his losses. I called a friend, who likes the truck about as much as I do. By Sunday afternoon, the price dropped to $2,000.00,and sold at the sight of 15,100 dollar bills. Now it will be put to good use,and not sit idle 11 out of 12 months. It developed a slight problem on start-up. Sounds like a pushrod bent "low',and is striking the inspection cover. Now,since I'm THE "co-owner",I GET to fix it!! YEE HAH!! What a Week-End!! He got a settlement from an accident, then went on a "Buying Spree"! He was broke and desperate, and the '55 was the 1st to go! "Tater's back "Home",Now!! And "He" bought himself a "Little, Older Brother",The KB3!! So I get that you'll be working on Tater but this other fellow owns it? You'll have to send me his name. Perhaps we'll start the "continuing Saga of 'Tater" and it'll be an extended page for the new guy with input from the "co-owner" ... that's pretty funny.

Wowee!! The "New" owner isn't too happy, right now. The 261 is TOAST!! I recently changed the oil. I always added zdd additive, plus i used Valvoline Z5W50 Racing oil,as suggested by many. This time,I used plain Valvoline 10W40. I was driving it to the "New Owner's place, and it developed a rod knock. Before I could get it pulled over, the engine locked-up,skidding the rear tires to a halt! I'll bet the crank's SHOT!! we plan on pulling the pan,and inspect the damage.I found a small chamber 327,out of a 64 2-ton,that should be an easy swap, since the bell housing should bolt right up to the SM420.Check out the "Swap Meet Section, for 261 parts! THANKS!!
