Ok, what type of screws to use for transmission cover to floor?, 1952, 3100, thanks for any help.

Classic Parts of America (Truck Parts) sells non-counter-sunk screws

Chevs of the 40s sells the same non-counter-sunk style screws.

Jim Carter lists a set, but no photos.

Disagree...I think the originals were countersunk besides being clutch head.

I'll check my Suburban and H-M pickup original floor panels tomorrow, Greg.

Was your Hydra-Matic floor panel countersunk, too?

I doubt if I bagged and tagged my original floor-panel screws, but I will look.

My 52panel had countersunk screws. They were slotted but that don't mean they were original....but I think so.

FWIW the tranny cover screws on my '38 are slotted flat head machine screws. <CLICK>

Got up especially to take this picture at 02:00 this morning,
thought I posted it, must have been in my dream. But these are
the exact replacement screws to the original screws in my
1950, 3600 w/4sp.
The cover is not counter sunk for a flat head screw:

GMC used the same screws that Denny pictured. I don't own any Chevs, but it appears that GMC and Chev used the same screws.

I think they may have changed that year...still makes me wrong as he was asking about a 52 but makes me at least feel like I am not losing my mind.

Yep, looks like they started using flat head sheet metal screws
in '54 Greg. The two on the toe board were still a truss head
sheet metal screw. All were #14 I believe.

I just now got back from a long day on my last week at work.

Do you all now think the 1954 transmission covers were different from earlier transmission covers (I have 1954 3-speed, 4-speed, and Hydra-Matic covers). Should I look tomorrow to see if they had slotted-head "flat-bottom/base" screws or counter-sunk screws?

Did people confirm that 47-53 3-speed & 4-speed covers used counter-sunk screws? And, were they clutch-head?

As usual, I am confused.

I just replace mine on the 53. They were not counter sunk and were rounded clutch head type.

Must be confusion with what you're gonna do when you don't
have to punch the clock next week Tim, congrats by the way.

I think what I can take away from this is as Steve posted, not
counter sunk up to '53, all truss head clutch drive then
'54-'55 were flat head on the floor and truss head on the
toe board, both clutch drive.

I guess my remberer isn't a good as it used to be. This thread made me do some checking and while my slot head memory was correct the flat head machine screw wasn't. It seems that slotted oval head is more accurate for the OEM screws on my '38.

Would it be okay to ask about the same screws in a '37?

Neither Chevs of the 40s or Jim carter have a listing for '37.

Both my original 1954 Chevrolet H-M covers are counter-sunk. My screws were bagged and tagged, but I do not know where I stored my bagged/tagged screws,

All my other 3-speed and 4-speed covers are flat (not counter-sunk) but I do not know if they were 1954 or earlier or after-market.
