Afterwards you can pinch a few places to tighten it up.

I use a small wire brush, brake clean, and use a curved dental tool used for cleaning teeth. It is called a scaler. Talk sweet to your dental hygienist, she should have some old ones which can't be used any more. Just don't talk too sweet. I made that mistake and she ended up marrying me.
