I trimmed about a 1/4" off the toeboard/floor area just above the bellhousing but can still use the original trans cover.

When you test fit the motor you should have a dist. that you are going to use and try it. If you have enough room behind the dist. to get your hand back there it should come out as you can tilt it as soon as you raise it out of the block an inch or so and the set back in the fire wall is tall enough to come up and out.
