So, My name is Ryan, recently saved all my dollars and bought me a 46 chevy truck. :P runs and drives, stops, someone had put some money into it. But turns out someone had also hacked up a few bits.
Im new to the forum, to hopefully get help where i can from the community, and maybe offer help where i can ( I am a marine electrical system designer for a major boat builder so anything electrial is right up my alley )
I am a very mechanical guy, dont feel like there is much i cant do with the tools in my garage, however the knowledge on these old truck is not somthing i have.

So reaching out to the community, help me turn this lemon I bought into the truck I know it can/will be :)

For reference, the truck has a 250 I6 in it ( after the seller had told me a few times that it was a 216 ) casting numbers dont lie lol. Bought the Truck relatively unseen, and paid a pretty penny for it.. : / drove it home, nearly 8 hours!! had a few issues with heat at highway speeds so kept the speed low taking back roads home, darn near all night driving.
Once i got it back I started to give it a once over the next day.

So acording to some quick searching thats a 250
Trans, which is sketchy how it is attached to the bellhousing, super sketch.. Ill have to post some pictures when i get a chance. basically the bottom two trans bolts dont really attach at all.
Trans on an interesting note is an original to the trucks era casting reads
591195 and the shifter is a top load.

Ryan, welcome to the stovbolt and congrats on getting one of the Art Deco style trucks. I had a 46 myself back a few years ago.
There is a ton of knowledge and great folks here and there is a good number of bolters from the Florida area so keep watch. You may have one next door.

To get the best results from questions be sure to ask them in the most appropriate forums. You know, engine questions in Engine Forum, driveline questions in Driveline Forum. It will speed up things and you'll get a lot more info/opinions.

feeling like an idiot here, but how would I post my own question as opposed to invading someone else's as I am now? I know it's probably something obvious, but I am at a loss. Any pertinent reply and leniency appreciated.

Go to the top of a forum and click on new topic. You will then see where you list the name of your topic and then a box to ask your question in. Once you do that then you click Submit which is in the lower left corner of the box you typed it......

Just find the forum you want to post in. Example would be an engine question which you should ask in the Engine Forum. Click on the engine forum and then do as mentioned above to start a new topic. Then, refresh your computer and you will be able to see your question.
