| | | | Joined: Jan 2015 Posts: 37 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jan 2015 Posts: 37 | I am building a 49 3100 with a 350 and I am about ready for exhaust manifolds I know that the rams horn manifolds are what I need but I have two questions first are the after market cast iron manifolds good quality and second, does anybody make a cast iron manifold that is better looking than the stockers and possibly ceramic coated ? ? ?

BILL | | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,792 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,792 | No experience with the repops, but the old original 300 HP 327 ram's horn manifolds with the 2 1/2" pipes were some of the best I ever ran on my dyno. Other than a tuned header with equal-length pipes for all cylinders, they gave the best torque output over a wide range of RPM. Even regular unequal-length tube headers couldn't match their performance.

They were relatively inexpensive and seemed to be of good quality. I see lots of the standard 2" manifolds at swap meets but the 2 1/2" originals are becomming scarce and pricy as well.

I know my blue chip truck has a little more room than your 49 but that saying I remember long years ago a 50 gmc I had with rams horns was real close. Wish I'd had the sanderson back then.Larry
