Other than a tuned header with equal-length pipes for all cylinders, they gave the best torque output over a wide range of RPM. Even regular unequal-length tube headers couldn't match their performance. Jerry

They were relatively inexpensive and seemed to be of good quality. I see lots of the standard 2" manifolds at swap meets but the 2 1/2" originals are becomming scarce and pricy as well. Fred

They also sell a tru-ram manifold, much cleaner than stock. I know my blue chip truck has a little more room than your 49 but that saying I remember long years ago a 50 gmc I had with rams horns was real close. Wish I'd had the sanderson back then.Larry
