I want to put it in my 50 to replace the 216. Does it matter if they are from a vehicle with an automatic. My setup is a four speed.??? | | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 | If it is from an automatic setup, you will need to install a pilot bushing in the4 crankshaft. Normally one would put a new one in as part of the job. I guess I would ask the question, were all the crankshafts bored for the bushing? | | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 | All the 1954 and later cranks I have seen are bored for a pilot bushing.

There is an adapter you can install that allows you to use the 216 type water pump or you can get a shortened water pump. However that shortened pump, will put the fan to low, so you should check out the adapter. Seen them on Ebay, search 235 water pump, should do it. Compare the fans/water pump loccations on both motors you'll see the issue.
