I want to put a 292 with sm420 in my 48 3/4 ton with bellhousing / crossmember will work? The 292 bellhousing is angled mounted to the crossmember. will just a 1954 - 1955 crossmember work or can i use a crossmember up to the late sixty? I know there riveted in. I was thinking of cutting the rivets out and bolting it back in

I am unsure of the 292 fit requirements but can speak to the 54' crossmember in a 47-53 truck. I put this crossmember into my 50' with a 54' 235 and it is pretty simple. You grind the rivets off the early one and the 54' version will only require a small amount of hole reaming to fit. The holes are only about an 1/8-1/4 inch off in total and the 235/SM420 bolt right up with the 54' bell housing.

I just put one in a 47 you need a late 50's v8 bell and modify the rear cross member to accept the tapered ears

The 292 front mounts will have to be fabed, 230 250 mounts won't work, The original clutch pedal will still work.
