It had a utility body on it that was rusted beyond repair. My son and I completely tore it down to the frame. The cab is repairable but I got lucky and found a complete cab with doors and hood off of a 65 C60 farm truck for $100 bucks. It needs new floor pans cause it looks like the cab mounting bolts are in different spots. I was really looking for a 6 foot box. I had planned on putting front disc brakes and power steering. I had a friend that had a 76 1/2 ton truck. took the front suspension from it and cleaned it all up. I replaced all the bushings, calipers, hoses, rotors and pads. I found a 64 short bed in a junk yard. I got it for $300 bucks. I stripped it down and had it powder coated. I installed the front suspension from the 76. Surprisingly, it bolted right up with no mods. Now I'm working on the steering. I got all new tie rods and center link which are bigger than the original. I know you have to use spacers to install the gear box. Has anyone done this to theirs? I'm trying to do this with as little modification as possible. Any body have any tips? I'll post pics soon.
