Over the course of a couple of weekends, I finally got the LMC plain-jane tailgate installed:

You can also see that it has some nice new blue dot taillights and the left side of the split exhaust is just barely visible in front of the rear tire.

It was (as usual) more work than I'd anticipated, since the 2 trunnion bracket bolts on the left side had snapped off when I tried to remove them. And the fact that I can't work for more than about 20 minutes at a time before I run out of breath.

But I got it done and did a little write-up here:

I still need to get the new chains and stuff installed, but I neet to order a few more parts first. I'm pretty pleased with the appearance...it sure beats the old one, which didn't look too good:

I'm REAL glad to have the job done. It's been on my "things to do" list since January.

Now I only need to....well, you know.

Hmm...I hadn't thought about removing the chains. But the seat belt thing sounds good. If ya see any pics, send 'em my way.

Van Pershing's 1965 Chevrolet C20(3/4 ton) Pickup - Be sure to check out his 'Idea' page. It has pictures of different latches used in place of the chains.

Great site. Some real good ideas there. I'm gonna have to consider this. The more I think abot it, the better a smooth-lookin appearance sounds.

Thanks, ArticCat. I'm havin fun with the old beast.

I agree that the new gate really helps the appearance. I'm thinkin that it would make a nice canvas for some sort of graphic...like a Von Dutch flying eyeball:

Maybe at next month's RF Reunion.
