I tried to adjust the steering box and it helped some. I know I brought some of this on with a wider than stock size tire installed. I was wondering if any one has ever installed a stabilizer shock on their steering like what you see commonly on 4 wheel drive vehicle to aid in steering performance when larger tires are added to a 4 wheel drive? I have the original style axle & springs,
but, have upgraded the steering to modern GM power steering with disc brakes.
I use 245x75x16R Michelin LTX truck tires on 8 inch rims…….. BIG!
The steering stabilizer has helped the truck stay on center and "feel" more solid and predictable.

You had to pull it back after a turn. It was downright dangerous. You need to check all you linkage & possibly o-haul the steering box. You need to get all the play out. You may need to add shims to increase the caster.

What steering boxes will fit this truck? Should I look for manual steering boxes from a newer truck or does someone sell replacement parts or whole units to replace the original steering boxes? | | |
