old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Apr 2008 Posts: 133 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2008 Posts: 133 | just tooting my horn. customer from MN wanted a custom dump bed for his 1954 truck(one ton) based off of my original 1952 design. so with a few dimensional modifications this is what I came up with. (click on my website - under current projects) (not trying to advertise here, just easier to load them on my site). Not the color(ocean green) I would have painted the bed, but that is what he wanted. he is going to install the wood himself. glad to share how I did it and answer questions.

As it appears that modern dump beds are your business also, is the hydraulics on this rig custom or adapting something current? Nice work.

I went through the system and beefed up the mount points though. I would have used a scissor hoist with electric pump. he had a local(MN) tractor restorer do the cab/chassis-he was not impressed with the results. especially when the paint on the bed was a better finish.(his words)

I know how challenging it can be to incorporate existing lift hardware and correcting previous mistakes when bringing an old bed back to life. Very nice job.
