A solution might be to change the timing chain plate to one that has appropiate holes...for front mounting.

Yet, in addition to the new holes, a pressed, rectangle nut in the center is reqired as well. Pretty close to real motor fun to do for me... Or ,
Since I have a front mount plate I can replace with, I would then have to pull the crank gear thing And pull the cam., drop the old plate and replace with a front mount plate.

Can the same procedure(drill holes in the timing chain plate)be done on a '64 292 for my '53 Chevy 3/4 ton? The 292 currently has a side mount.
