| | | | Joined: Apr 2013 Posts: 19 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Apr 2013 Posts: 19 | I have been offered a good running 292 to replace my tired 235, but it doesn't come with flywheel, Bell housing or transmission.
Can I interchange this with my 235, or do I need to look for a 62 on transmission, Flywheel and Bellhousing.
Had one of these years ago in a C10 and it was a great performing lump.

You'd need to find a bell housing from a newer 6 cylinder such as a 230, 250 or 292 engine. Probably have to fabricate some engine mounts too. I believe the 292 engines all use side mounts....

A 1955-59 V8 bellhousing or a post-1962 truck bellhousing will be needed to adapt the engine to your truck. You will also need a flywheel and clutch from a late-model engine.

That's what I figured, but I am in the UK and manual bell housings and flywheels are not very common out here.
