My '41 Chev front window crank system has failed. I know Chevy's of the '40's will replace the drive gear but what is the removal directions.

What often happens is the shaft the gear is on ovals out the cast body. The shaft pushes off the gear. Its a press fit. You can drill the hole in the body out and put in a brass bushing if that's the problem.

Thanks, but I'm still a little confused as to the best way to remove it so I can determine my problem.

Have you removed anything yet? If not then make sure you take some picture of what it looks like before.

I had mine removed but now I am in the process of getting everything to put it back together and I am at a lost.

I am also looking for some instruction on the removal of the windshield crank.

Once I figure out how to put it together, I'll follow up with what I did.

I have a '39 so the window crank should be about the same. Here are some pics of what the crank out assembly looks like from under the dash.

There are two bolts that hold the crank to the inner dash. I don't have the bolts so I'll get something from a hardware store or something.

Thanks Bread, no I haven't started the removal yet. Mine has been hot rodded and this spring I decided I needed power steering. Well things went as I had hoped and it took most of the summer to get it going again. So, I'm driving it now until the rains come and then will try to fix it. I will take a lot of pictures. There isn't much room under the dash so it should be interesting.

I was able to get my put back in by going threw the glovebox, I guess not having a GB isn't that bad.
