Hey guys I found a donor truck 1951 3100 with a good windshield, but I need to have it out of the car tonight. Can anyone give me a quick rundown on how these things come out?

Remove center strip inside & out, then use a razor blade knife around the window rubber on the outside & then gently push out....joe

Yeah if you are not trying to save the rubber gasket around the windshield, you can just cut it and remove the glass.....

Hey, you weren't the guy I saw at the Quicky-mart covered in blood, looking for big trash bags and duct tape were you? Just wondering what the rush was.

Why go to the trouble for used glass when new stuff is so cheap?

I agree wit you turbo, flat glass for an AD is relatively
inexpensive. Most any glass that was in front of a vehicle
for half a century is gonna have some surface damage not to
mention the deterioration and yellowing of the plastic
lamination.
Mute point though, cus Jimmy Jazz pulled it out the other night,
but someone else might benefit from the thread.

Is the new glass the same thickness as the old?? I know some of the 55-57 windshield and rear window glass isn't quite as thick as the new replacement stuff is.

It's not enough difference to matter.

...it probably varies from time to time or manufacturing run to manufacturing run. I measure my glass vs the new on my panel and it was .005 with the new glass being thicker.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile
