Once in 3rd gear and above 40mph she has pep and run ok. I've notice if I pull the choke out slightly (even with engine warm) it will sputter less.
I've done the timming by attaining the maximum vacuum gauge method

It should move easily without any tendency to stick (although they usually stick in the rich position). If it's not opening the ball check valve as the manifold vacuum drops the mixture will be lean on acceleration. Jerry

At least the plunger is an easy fix. Might be a good time to rebuild the carb,though. Kits are about $20.00. | | |
