Hi there,

i just bought this 1956 1/2 ton about a month ago. The truck was a one family truck as the grand father bought it new at Courtesy Chevrolet here in San Jose. The grandson eventually got it and it unfortunately it sat in his garage for about 17 years until I bought it from him. It's a straight 6 cylinder with what he said is 31K original miles. His grandfather only drove it locally and he and his dad didn't drive it much. It's been fun cleaning it up and I've since; replaced the water pump, hoses, flushed out the radiator, rebuilt the carb, and degreased up the engine bay.
I know I'm going to need some parts and advise so I'm told this is the right forum to be on!

Welcome to the Stovebolt,Juan. The is the place to be. Knowledge and good folks willing to share.
Sounds like you have found a nice truck to work on. Three are lots of the TF "task force" trucks here. Post questions in the best forum and let the guys help you out with any problems. Check out the links, gallery, and tech tips. see ya around the garage.....oh, and there are lots of Ca. bolters here so there is probably some close to you. Watch for them.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile

Welcome Juan. It's not really that unfortunate to sit in a garage for 17 years, better than sitting out behind the garage in the fence row with trees growing through it. Have fun getting her back together and be sure to ask if you need help.

... and get us a pic or two. I love '56's, particularly Californian ones. Does it have the big back window? What transmission?
