One has sold and the other is at $950.

That seat is in excellent condition.

Note it is a 1953 seat - that year the upholstery was maroon.

Whether it is Suburban seats, rare induction set ups, wheels or whatever, I wish someone would reproduce the rare parts. I doesn't seem right that "seats" would demand such a high price simply because they are not easily available.

The whole vehicle, no issues, but parts that sell for more then the project vehicle, crazy.

Even the barn finds or the farmers field suburbans that have all the seats bring $3000 to $4000 more than one without seats. It seems you pay a big price either way.
reproduction seats are available minus the cushions, you'll have to make or have them made.

just my 2cents

Yes, seats command a high price simply because they are not easily available.

Exactly Tim. But most folks don't know what we know. This the great thing about Stovebolt. Folks learning and sharing the knowledge. After all. Knowledge is the Best Resource. Now, lets get the word out there about the seat frames and save some bolters money for the brakes and new tires smile

This guy was a scam ... I actually bought one of the seats but he never delivered and the E-bay Money Back Guarantee program just refunded my money.

I questioned myself on how he had the middle and rear seat listed separate in the same auction. The listing was cancelled and said this "This listing was ended by the seller because there was an error in the listing".
He did sell both seats,I would almost bet someone offered bigger bucks for both.

Just my thoughts !!

I'm with you, those seats are the same ones or close to it that I sat in on the school bus in the seventies. No difference but a few bends. If you want to pay $900 for a seat be my guest. I'd rather spend that money on other things. Just my 3 cents whether I'm right or wrong.

If you need a seat, and seats are not easy to find, eventually you'll pay more than you expected/wanted to pay.

No one has yet posted a satisfactory substitution for the seat cushions. Has anyone used school bus seat frames/cushions? Please post links to pictures.

A satisfactory substitution for the middle and rear seat frames has been posted - a member makes them. Maybe someone who has actually bought these custom-made frames will post their experience and post links to pictures of the seat frames installed?

Hey rat,bus seats are no where near close to the suburban seats.People always think they are and think they will go that route until they actually see bus seats.

Supply and demand, think about it too long and the other guy will buy the seats every time.
I've been watching them for three years sell on ebay . You'll get your money back if you decide to sell.

He may have sold them... but given my experience with him ... dubious. Ebay note on the listing stated "This listing was ended by the seller because there was an error in the listing" ...that's for sure! If they were sold he sure didn't mind taking my money. But no problem ... I got it back and I have a set of seats for my Burb anyway .... those just looked a bit nicer. As for worth... rightly noted ..anybody on this sight surely ought to know Econ 101 Chap 1 "Supply & Demand" ... and you're right ... these are not bus seats.

Hey everyone, I talked to this guy and he was less than pleasant. But that's not the reason I'm replying. I purchased a re-pro seat from Eddie here on the "Bolt" and they are very nice. Seat spring sets can be made by modifying truck spring sets. I've done it and have pictures if anyone is interested. Don't get me wrong it's head work but it can be done.

Eddie makes great reproduction seats, making the cushion takes a little thought and time. Been there and done that !!!!!

I'm sure everyone would love to see pictures of the cushions you made.

I just got back from Fall Carlisle where a guy from Michigan was selling the 3rd seat, with some duct tape repairs, for $2,000! He did sell it on Sat. but wouldn't reveal the final sale price.

They are easy to reproduce all you need is a tubing bender and sheet metal shop.

That's how my 1946 Suburban seats are being replaced.

I have joined the ranks of needing the center seat for my 52 burb. The National Guardsman who worked on and rode in it in the 60's and early seventies confirmed it had all three seats. he always rode in the back and climbed through the center seat. how do I find the link to the frame maker? I can do the upholstery handily. Thanks guys

You might check with Mothertrucker Parts. He parts out a lot of trucks. Mothertruckeraz@aol.com

I am so lucky that my Burb came with all the seats in it. As a matter of fact the only thing I have found that is missing on the entire truck are the cables and reels for the clamshell doors. The previous owner swapped them in place of the original barn doors. Evidently he couldn't find a source of those parts. As an added bonus he included the near pristine set of barn doors when he sold me the truck! I sold them to another Bolter for what now appears to be a very reasonable price. I guess I could have gouged someone on Ebay if I wanted to. Just trying to help a brother out.

Thanks
