For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jun 2014 Posts: 128 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2014 Posts: 128 | The wait is over and my new to me 41' 1 1/2 ton stake bed will be with me over the weekend. (thanks Grigg!) Now on to the important stuff. I am new to old vehicle ownership. What are some things I need to know about the care and feeding of this fine vehicle? Any anecdotes, little hints or hacks would be greatly appreciated Thanks Andy Truck

When I get a headache, I take 2 aspirin and keep away from the kids like it says on the bottle.

It looks a lot like my '46 2-ton. Where in Mass. are you? I'm in the southwest corner. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2014 Posts: 128 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2014 Posts: 128 |

For starters, you'll probably have to learn to double clutch, if you don't already know how. And, assuming the engine and drive train are stock, just drive it accordingly. You won't win any races with it. Also, allow plenty of room when stopping. Also, you'll probably need a football field to turn it around in!
That's a beautiful truck! I wish it were mine! | | | | | Joined: Jun 2014 Posts: 128 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2014 Posts: 128 | Are there any fuel additives you would suggest? I know the ethanol and lack of lead are not helpful to engine health

Don't worry about a fuel additive.
If the engine is original, not recently cleaned and rebuilt I would use a non detergent oil. If it is rebuilt and known to be clean inside I'd use normal straight 30 weight oil, like Shell Rotella-T SAE 30.
We should see your truck in 6 or 7 hours from now.
