Hey there Stovebolt!
I am new to the forum and have been trolling gathering advice for my 1946 chevy truck.

I picked it up from an old gentleman who has owned the truck since the early 50's. It is a running driving truck with only minor surface rust. I am in the process of converting it to a more modern vehicle as I will be driving it any and everywhere. I have a heidts Mustang II and a 350 crate motor as well as a 700r4 and 8.5 4x4 s10 rear axle with 3.42 posi. Should be a fun ride when Im done.

I have found several valuable topics of similar (but not exact) conversions and am prepared for the long haul restoration! If anybody here has any need for my leftover parts ie, the original engine trans and rear, PM me and we can figure out the next steps! Cheers and i look forward to diving deeper into the archives and pickin yalls brains!

bigharris28, welcome to the Stovebolt. I see your just "down the road" from me here in the Spartanburg/Greenville area. Be sure to watch the Southern Stovebolt forum as there is a gathering in Lawrenceville later this year that would be great for us bolters to show in our trucks.
Got a fair size group of bolters from GA. so watch for them.
In doing your project be sure to ask questions in the best or most appropriate forum for the best results. You know, engine questions in the engine forum and so forth.

I just moved to Murphy, NC and have a '46 also. May be interested in some of your parts as you do your restoration. My truck is in the 1946 Gallery under Pam & Dave Wolff's 1946 Chevy 1/2 ton. Lucille is in pretty good shape and I can't wait to get her home after my new garage is built. What exactly is the condition of your inline six engine?

I just noticed your bgharris28 not 21. Sorry.

Hey! The engine is solid. Starts right up and cruises around 30-35. I havent put more than 30 miles on it since i bought it but the fellow I picked it up from drove it to town everyday. If I were going to keep it, I would rebuild the carburetor and possibly do a valve job. I will be pulling it in the next week or two so if you'd like to see a video of it running up and down the road, let me know. Cheers

Save all of the original stuff when you do your conversion/swap- they don't make a lot of it anymore!

Welcome from Canton, ga! One of these days we'll have to get all the GA folk together.

...that would be great.... and remember, Brad54 will probably let us Bolters in free! There is a place along the wall outside wall of the dragstrip that he lets old cars/trucks park anyway. A stovebolt flag with a small tent and we're all set!

Im so impressed with all the local bolters! This is going to be a great experience. I cant wait for a get together (hopefully i will have mine all fixed up by then)
