on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 126 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 126 | I washed my engine block today and after letting the truck dry for 5 hours in the texas sun, I went to turn it over and the starter is not turning.
I think its obvious I shorted it out. What do I do at this point? | | | | | Joined: Aug 2009 Posts: 311 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Aug 2009 Posts: 311 | Is the starter turning at all? | | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 126 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 126 | | | | | | Joined: Aug 2009 Posts: 311 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Aug 2009 Posts: 311 | Have you checked to see if the battery is charged? If it is fully charged I would check to make sure you have a good/clean/tight ground connection (battery to frame). Then I would check the positive connection to the starter. Still nothing I would pull the solenoid off and check and clean it. Thats where I would start. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,298 Renaissance Man | | Renaissance Man Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,298 | The water may have made a corroded cable connection worse. Clean the connections and test. If that doesn't work, I would pull the starter and roll it around to see if water runs out of it. I would then attach power to it on the bench and see if it works.

I replaced the entire electrical system back in January, the cables are all brand new.
