Use the latches/catches for the year of the doors in whatever 48-53 cab you use.
| | | | | Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 3,399 Gas Pumper | | Gas Pumper Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 3,399 | Tim is right as usual, but the problem then is if you are a picky person like me, you have two very large holes that are exposed and it really doesn't look right on the cab striker plate area. I have tried to find decent striker plates for the cabs that cover those holes like the earlier year striker plates. So far the only way I can see to do it, is to use a 47-50 striker plate and modify it to have the profile of the 51-55 plates. I have some on the welding bench right now that I will change the profile by adding weld and cleaning the old ones up since there really isn't a decent way to resolve this.
Whats worse is, once you have added the weld and shaped the striker plate to perform exactly as the newer style, what do you do to make it look decent? Re-Plate? Paint, Powdercoat? If you are the best welder under the sun you MIGHT make the weld look nice enough to replate. Maybe. Painting will wear off, so will powdercoating. Im at this stage right now with mine. Wouldn't '51 have the old style striker plates also? That was the last year for the pull down handles.

Those with 52 and up doors on the older cabs need the wraparound style striker to make it look decent, or... weld the holes shut after you put in the plate, which I wouldn't do. I even called a company called Triquemfg.com and tried to see if they had a solution. Not for original door hardware.
