Only took me 3 months to do a weekends worth of work- but I finally got the ole 235 in the truck woke back up and running!

Cause it didn't happen w/o a video ;-)

new battery, new fuel pump, rebuilt the extra R1 carb that came with the truck (thanks to George for the fast idle arm!).

Fired right up and idled after some cranking to get gas through the lines & carb. Good Oil pressure. Some valve noise- but overall I'm stoked!

Currently running off a plastic gas can bungee corded to the hood hinge- The gas tank has been de-gunked, cleaned out, painted & re-installed- Just need to bend up some new hard lines this weekend and I'll be ready to move onto the brake system! (hole rusted in a brake line is what caused the truck to be parked in '92- so it needs all new hard and soft lines. Hoping I won't have to replace the master and wheel cylinders...

Anyway, some more pics:
Cleaned out, wire wheeled & primed original gas tank

Good job on getting it running. If it was mine I would pull the valve cover off for a look. Almost sounds to me like you have a bent pushrod.

Don't scrimp on the brakes. Replace everything except the drums, if they are turnable.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile
