I want to keep it looking standard (maybe a touch lower). A 350 sbc will be going in soon (not sure on everyones views on that yet) along with much needed new wiring, brakes etc..
Anyway hope to learn a lot from you.

What you are planning to do to your truck has been done many times and folks here are willing to help. For the best results just be sure to post questions in the most appropriate forum. Like engine questions in the engine forum, driveline questions in driveline forum.
Don't forget to check out the gallery, tech tips and links sections. There is tons of info there as well.

I see yours already has a V8 do you have any plans other than lowering it? (There's loads of different ways of doing that.) I assume it may already have a different rear axle too on account of the V8,your truck should have had a torque tube originally which don't usually work in that situation.

Ive got a 8.5" 10bolt lsd, will need to get a prop made. I've just posted a question about lowering advice - unfortuantely im on a low budget at the moment so no front clip for the time being so looking at lowered springs front and rear. Is there any newer info on yours, Jock.

I know what you mean about 'limited budget' though.
Due to some bad advice and workmanship (not from here I might add!) i've basically had to re-do my front and rear suspension which hurt my budget somewhat.
I've still got bodywork to attend to if I could stop driving it!
The main 'issue' you will find with fitting the V8 and stock steering is probably header/exhaust to steering clearance.
I'm running a MII IFS so that doesn't really relate to yours,the guys in the Hi-Po section will keep you right though. (Use the search function and i'm sure you'll find the info you need)
The 10 bolt rear's a good choice though,nice width and better ratio,I assume you'll be changing the front to discs (worthwhile) or else you'll have to run 2 different wheel bolt patterns.

Yes i've also got a disc kit for the front to match the 5 on 4.75 bolt pattern along with better brakes.
Yeh ive found a little info on the steering box being in the way - until i can find more money and upgrade that, it will have to be spaced away from the headers and steering arms bent little i guess. Im having to make sure im using the correct words here!! headers = manifolds in uk, fenders = wings, rockers = sills.......I may get in wrong from time to time, feel free to pick me up on that! | | | | | Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 3,750 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 3,750 | Keeping the PCD the same front and rear the same,especially 5 bolt Chevy opens up a huge choice of wheels styles.
Glad to see you've got your priorities in order too in getting it stopping first,no point in sticking a V8 in if ya can't stop!
